Senegal has reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a new $2.2 billion debt programme, the financial institution said on Tuesday. An earlier agreement was suspended in 2024 after the discovery of underreported debt.

Alexander Mamonov, a former employee of Russian flag carrier Aeroflot, was found to have masterminded a scheme to secretly ship hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of components to the airline.
